August 02, 2020 “Houston, We Have a Problem” Matthew 14:31-21

Good morning. I’m Pastor Brian Mundt, here at Richfield Lutheran Church, in south Minneapolis. With us are M.B. Weibel as our assisting minister and Mary Sage as our vocalist. Our organist, Paul Comnick, is as home, recovering from surgery. Today is the 9th Sunday after Pentecost. Our gospel is Matthew 14:13-21. Jesus feeds the hungry multitude and reveals the abundance of God. At the eucharistic table, we remember all who are hungry or poor in our world today. As we share the bread of life, we are sent forth to give ourselves away as bread for the hungry. Remember: today we celebrate communion. If you’d like to partake, please have bread and juice (or something comparable) ready.
