The RLC Community of Faith Mission Statement:  Together We Will BE the Church In The Community and The World!

Our Vision Statement embraces the many ministries of our church:

As part of the Richfield Lutheran Community of Faith….

We believe that we are all children of God who are welcome into a worship community.

We belong to a community of faith when we connect with others.

We become people of justice who act and speak boldly as we grow in faith.

We behold the difference we can make as we serve as the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

We behave with enthusiasm as we give freely of our time, talents and treasures.

We look beyond ourselves and seek to invite others to BE with us as we live out God’s mission and ministry in the community and the world.

THE RLC HISTORY
IN THE BEGINNING…
In the summer of 1914, the area around our current church looked nothing like it does today.  At that time, Richfield was a little truck farming area with no sidewalks or paved roads.  It was the little village in the shadow of the “big city” of Minneapolis.  It didn’t even have public transportati1 be the church soloon yet.  The streetcar line stopped at the Minneapolis city limits on 50th street and the old Dan Patch railroad line ended at 59 1/2 street.

Times have changed and Richfield Lutheran has changed but the faithful continue to evolve.  We have celebrated a century of faith but now in our next century we are committed to not only GO to church but rather BE the church – 2017 and beyond!  We have a new mission and vision statement – but those are only guidelines to the future.  The strength of those words comes in the actions of the people who choose to be a part of the Richfield Lutheran Community of Faith!  People like you!

This past year, we have continued to make a difference in the community – by making our footprints in our community!  Our outreach programs in youth, theater, senior and music programs have brought thousands of people into RLC throughout the year – we hope one of them was you.  This past year we have said happy retirement to one pastor, embraced the interim process and are currently in the call process for a new senior pastor.  During it all, The RLC Community of Faith continues to work together in strategic plan goals that move us forward in both faith and in community!Home 70

The times have changed and our worship styles, facilities, programs and music have evolved throughout the century.  We continue to gather as a community of faith, boldly envisioning new and creative ways to praise God to a new generation of people.  As we live out our centennial scripture to walk by faith – not by sight, we are assured that one thing never changes: we also continue to live by God’s promise heard that first Sunday a century ago, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20).

RLC – from 1915 through today and into tomorrow!
